Ask Father...
What is the role of the deacon in the Church? How does their training differ from that of a priest?

On-Line Priest Q & A
Do you have a question about our Catholic faith that you want to ask a priest but haven't had a good opportunity to ask it? Here's your chance! Send your question to Caryn at the Rectory (330-467-7959) or clintner@sbcglobal.net. We will list your question anonymously on the new Ask Father page, and a priest will answer your question.

Father's Day Prayer

God our Father,
You govern and protect your people and shepherd them with a father's love. You place a father in a family as a sign of your love, care, and constant protection.
May fathers everywhere be faithful to the example shown in the Scriptures: steadfast in love, forgiving transgressions, sustaining the family, caring for those in need. Give your wisdom to fathers that they may encourage and guide their children. Keep them healthy so they may support a family.
Guide every father with the Spirit of your love that they may grow in holiness and draw their family ever closer to you.
Amen.

VIRTUS Requirements for ALL Parish Volunteers who Work with Children
All volunteers/employees who are planning to help either at the school or with parish events involving children four (4) hours a month or more should make plans to attend a one-night-only )3 hours) Virtus training session if you haven't already done so. Watch future bulletins for a date for a class here at St. Barnabas - probably the first week of August.
All five (5) requirements MUST BE MET for employees/volunteers to work with children:
  • You can register for Virtus training classes by going to http://www.dioceseofcleveland.org. Click on "Protecting Children" on the right side of the home page. Then click on "Documents and Policies."
  • The "Policy for Safety of Children-2007" can be reviewed and/or downloaded by clicking here. Sign the last page and return to Rectory.
  • The Standards of Conduct for Ministry can be accessed from this same page. Again, sign/date the last page and return to the Rectory.
  • Once you are registered for a class, you will receive two (2) monthly on-line bulletins to read. Volunteers/employees are required to read AT LEAST 24 of these bulletins to be compliant with the Virtus program.
  • Fingerprinting is also a requirement to being Virtus compliant. Call Dawn at the Rectory office to schedule an appointment to be fingerprinted.
Unless All Five requirements are met, volunteers/employees CAN NOT be involved with parish activities with children.
Lifeline Screening is coming to St. Barnabas
