The Ministry Ministry (M2) was established in the summer of 2006 as a result of the Stewardship focus within the St. Barnabas Parish.
The primary goal of this ministry is assisting those wishing to become more involved in Parish activities to Find Their Calling.
The roots of M2 date back to 1999 when the founder’s family moved to the area and wanted to become involved with parish activities but was frustrated by what was perceived as the lack of a clear process for offering to volunteer, learning about opportunities to volunteer, and being matched to a group or organization. The founder and his family did eventually become involved in a number of Parish activities as a direct result of being persistent in seeking out volunteer opportunities.
The founder is not a Cradle Catholic. After regular attendance at Mass with his family, involvement with his Children’s religious formation, and involvement in various Parish organizations and activities, he discerned that conversion to the Catholic Faith was a personal necessity and began RCIA in the Fall of 2005 and was welcomed fully into the Faith at Easter Mass 2006.
In 2005 the Founder and his wife sat on the Stewardship Commission for the Parish. As part of the Stewardship process, the Commission challenged each Parishioner to ask themselves…”what can I do to be a Steward of our Faith and the St. Barnabas Parish?" In asking this question of the Parish, the Stewardship Commission was also challenged to discern this question themselves. This is when the idea that is now M2 began to form.
Fast forward to Summer 2006…we now have a clear focus of what M2 is, what our focus will be, and how this type of effort is tied to the Stewardship focus of the Parish.
