The vitality and vibrancy of our parish life in this third millennium of
Christianity are dependent on the contributions of the believing community.
The continued strength and witness of our parishes is contingent on our
willingness to embrace stewardship as a way of life, and to allow our
faith to guide our lives in offering all that we have and all that we are to the
glory of God and the building up of God's kingdom.
- We are part of the welcoming team.
- We are part of the outreach to the poor.
- We are part of the committed people who teach God's word to
our children.
Stewardship in a parish then must have as its basis and
beginning point a recognition of God's goodness and blessings.
It should also include:
- A willingness to form a cohesive and long-range plan
for allowing parishioners the opportunity to offer
their time, talent and treasure
- Communication to parishioners of the ministries and
financial health of the parish
- Respect for volunteers and recognition of their
contributions
- Commitment to be a welcoming community
- Accountability to parishioners
- Education in the theology of stewardship for adults and
children
